Our first, and so fortuitous, meeting over ten years ago, with Ian and Vivien was in the back of a taxi in Turkey. Instant and continued rapport.  Although he denied it and claimed otherwise, he was very funny.  He described us as their second best friends - which was so kind.  He never admitted who was number one!   Ian, or Bondholder 17 as he was also known to us, would remind us that he still held the Wallasey Schools 100 yards sprint record but would humbly add that they changed the distance to metres not long after.  The on-going debate always surrounded how we remembered that he preferred his scotch whisky with ginger (Schweppes, please) and ice on the side.
